We don’t have much time to watch Korean series or TV in general, spending time putting together images of our lord takes up a lot of our time, but we like it.
As we have already said, some do Yoga or crosswords to relax at the end of the day, we clear our minds in another way.
However, from time to time we watch Korean or Japanese series.
We like Japanese series and films because they are shorter and the scenarios are more daring and realistic.
Also, because Japanese actresses and actors are more comfortable in certain more mature roles, and especially because they avoid all the simpering that certain Korean directors judge to be to the public’s taste, and which they serve us in general in the first and second episode in such a way that we very quickly feel like zapping.
Lately we find ourselves watching Korean series more often.
We don’t know why, maybe our main focus is fading or shifting, who knows?
We like the way Korean directors frame their shots very closely and we like the poetry and sensitivity of some when it comes to showing us meaningful situations or moments imbued with romance or magic.
We don’t like the lengths, nor the superfluous episodes added so that the whole thing fulfills the obligatory commercial format.
We often miss something sublime because the title is not catchy.
We often have to hold on so as not to skip from the first episode while telling ourselves at the end that we did well to persevere.
We love their music, and we wonder if at times it wasn’t their music that made us stay watching certain episodes.
Very often we find ourselves closing our eyes to listen rather to the music than to the unfolding of the story while telling ourselves that it is a shame not to understand the words, because even if we find them elsewhere later, the first effect would have been even more wonderful.
We have never liked to jump on the films that come out and create a fashion effect that everyone feels obliged to watch. Certainly for fear of being disappointed, but above all because waiting week after week to reach 16 or 24 episodes kills our interest. We need all the episodes right away!
Today we want to talk about a series that is not recent, and as we like to take our time to be pleasantly surprised and amazed, we only decided to watch it very recently, at our own pace.
The soundtrack of this series is simply magnificent, perhaps because certain titles remind us a lot of the ballads of our Middle Ages.
No, you won’t listen to the latest trending Korean songs in this series, after all it is a historical series.
The main actors, about whom we can only give a spectator’s opinion, all seem simply incredible to us and make us feel sorry for them because it seems to us that they rarely film and not at all these days .
Would reaching forty be a handicap for a Korean actor to be offered interesting roles?
Or do Korean actors become more demanding after making a successful film and are not ready to accept any other role?
Some with a less challenging taste, and more or less well advised by their agents, find themselves filming two or even three series per year, which necessarily limits the share of the pie.
Time to enjoy the success, as long as they are in demand by the public, before they put them aside and move on to the next one.
We won’t talk to you any further about the content of this series, we simply advise you to watch it.
Hang in there for the first episode, don’t let yourself be fooled by the frivolous, annoying and shallow character roles assigned to the two main actors from the start.
Stay and keep hanging on.
This series is rated -12 in Korea but -16 on Netflix Europe due to certain very realistic and cruel scenes inspired by real historical events (the second Manchu invasion of Korea in the year 1636).
You’re no longer impressed by Korean directors’ taste for hemoglobin-laden scenes, right?
Ahh, the scenario!
We don’t know if it’s the work of different people because sometimes the teams change during filming, but as the episodes progress they increase in creativity and we feel that there is a real documentation work. We end this series having learned things and we like that.
We love the wonderful work of historical research which is visible down to the very small details of the clothing and settings.
We love the romantic moments where the characters express their emotions and feelings with finesse and without fanfare.
This scenario is aesthetic and instructive and has been said to be inspired by the novel “Gone with the Wind“.
Some already know that we are talking about MY DEAREST series also known as LOVER.
The 21 episodes are devoured without length, and the secondary roles are as formidable as those of the two main protagonists.
Main actors:
Namkoong Min (wonderful actor)
Ahn Eun-Jin (stunning performance)

If you have other series that you liked, don’t hesitate, tell us about it and let us discover it.
We leave you with a little musical curiosity noted in the soundtrack of this series.
Some could call this plagiarism and in some countries there would probably already be grounds for a lawsuit…
We will simply say that often the sounds of certain songs give us an impression of déjà vu (or of déjà entendu* in this case of figure).

I recently saw the series Moon lovers (2016), I really liked it because I love history and romance movies
