The reality of an idol’s life is not always like a dream.

We always wondered how much the dark period that Kim Hyun Joong went through had marked him.

Without really knowing what he went through, we can imagine his descent into hell and what we learn through small hints or snippets of conversation from time to time always makes us feel a little sad for him.

The content of his last posting leaves us in that state.

That he puts his heart out  this way amazes us to the core and we can only admire him a little more each day.

We love these brief moments of simplicity where the artist does not “play the actor” and where he speaks to us with sincerity.

We also really like what he’s become, and even though we only met him recently, one thing is certain: we would never have bothered to stop if we’d met him in his early days.

He could have become a pretentious, undrinkable little prick who has reached the top and whose feet no longer touch the ground, or a handsome guy with an advantageous physique who is full of himself, but he simply chose to become a good man.

A thoughtful person who very often shows us his little follies, his childish enthusiasm, the ‘glitter’ side of his dream life as an artist, and who makes us forget most of the time that he is also a human being like the rest of us.

Living in a society where appearances are more important than anywhere else and where ‘show bizz people’ must not cross the red lines or they will be put on a siding, we can only bow down to these two artists who have the courage to talk freely and without taboos about their depression or the financial problems they encounter in their profession.

To be able to talk about it as they do, it is clear that these two have already done a lot of work on themselves.

Taking a step back to be aware of your problem, being able to name your condition, doing everything to get out of a spiral or an illusory dependency that makes you even more vulnerable, finding a sympathetic ear to talk to, are all steps forward that help you find a way out.

Kim Hyun Joong is perfect here in his role as the big brother.
