Let’s talk about numbers. A tiny bit.
Have you noticed that Kim Hyun Joong’s official Youtube subscribers counter is currently gaining a thousand subscribers per day? Wow Wow Wow! No comments…
Have you also noticed that recently even Everydayjoong’s videos are cut at least once by advertising? (if you don’t have a Premium subscription)
Since we ask everyone to their contribution by regularly asking to “stream” Kim Hyun Joong videos, we believe that spending 5 minutes on the question is not useless, and have tried to document ourselves so as not end up completely ignorant.
Why this fixed idea of the million Youtube subscribers? What is it used for?
Sorry for our ignorance, but Mr. Hyun Joong forced us to land very recently in the wonderful world of YouTubers.
One million subscribers equals a small gold plaque and we’ve learned that there are different colors depending on the level.
A kind of trophy delivered by Mr. YOUTUBE himself, which you proudly hold under your arm when you get home, and which you will place in a precious way on your bedside table.
Let us be clear, no one seems to know exactly what the little plaque is for. We have a little idea.
It will be used to make the cleaning lady moan, who will ask herself ‘What is this dust catcher?’
and it is very useful when you proudly announce during a social discussion: “I have a million, and you? How many have you?”
Two questions arises:
- That’s all ? All that for this ?
- Do at least a significant number of subscribers bring in some money?
(very materialistic thought we admit, but money is the sinews of war ..)
We have to tell you right away, nobody want to communicate you the ratio’s percentage between ‘subscribers Youtube explosion / bank account filling’. However, it seems that a million subscribers it’s not enough to make money, at least not directly, because the most important seems to be the number of videos’ views.
Cause and effect or vicious circle if you prefer, the more subscribers there are, the more they will be supposed to be interested in content / videos….and vice versa.
If the choice is made to monetize them (which also implies accepting that the videos be cut or preceded by advertisements), a small fee is charged each time the video is seen.
And then things start to get interesting.
Contrary to the million subscribers who only get the famous little plaque, the million video views (if you’re lucky enough to get it quickly) could bring you up to 8,000 euros (data for a video from a ‘Sunday youtubeur’, it is not known if the scale is the same for a Korean interplanetary star).
Important or relative sum depending on the point of view.
If we bring it back to a French minimum wage it represents 6 months of salary, if we compare this sum to the cost of making some videos, it will never reimburse the means used for their realization.
Do you think that each of the great Music in Korea videos only cost 8.000 euros ?
To sum up, and if we understood everything properly, stop fixing on the number of subscribers, this parameter alone is good for the ego but only brings in peanuts financially; it is preferable to focus first on the number of videos views, the subscribers will inevitably arrive with.

Message for those who have asked the question :
No, we don’t win money with our homemade videos because the content: film, images and music does not belong to us.
The million subscribers? No, we don’t dream about it either.
