Kim Hyun Joong spoke about his upcoming symphony concert [March 15 & 16 in Tokyo], in a question/answer session published on his official Youtube channel.

A: This is the first symphony concert in 5 years so we had more time to prepare.
We also work with the same maestro. It will be a much better prepared performance.

For those who came last time you will be able to see how much I have grown musically in 5 years and how far I have come.

It will be fun to discover these changes

Q: What has been your biggest musical change over the last 5 years?

A: My music has changed a lot since COVID.
I can now play guitar while singing on stage and my understanding of music has also deepened

I also have a lot more things I want to say through my music.

Things not always so optimistic.

Many of my songs contain deeper meaning than before which I think is a noticeable change.

You will see what I mean during the concert, how much I have matured and what I have in store for the future.

Q: How is this year’s INTO THE LIGHT Symphony different from 2019’s BIO-RHYTHM Symphony?

A: There are changes to the setlist.
W
e made sure to leave out the songs we made in 2019

Everything has been revised except for a few pieces,  the rest are new songs that are better suited to a symphony.

The majority of songs are Japanese.

There are a few songs that are more nostalgic in the new setlist.

For fun, we wanted to make this concert more fun by incorporating nostalgic instruments into the show.

.

Q: What was the main goal of the new setlist?

(…)

A: If the previous concert was mainly focused on powerful and intense sounds

This time it is based on the theme of spring coming, so the songs were chosen accordingly.

The opening video is also themed around the arrival of spring.

Same with the opening piece.

There are also a few songs I arranged for Christmas. So some songs will sound like they are from the Christmas season when you hear them.

They were made in the hope that you feel excited for this Christmas 2024.

The show is basically a collection of my thoughts so I really hope you enjoy it.

.

Q: Is there a special track you’re particularly looking forward to?

(…)

A: “Twilight”, “Tasogare”  which is part of Kotaro Oshio’s 20th anniversary album.

I had the honor of participating as a singer, but the song has never been performed live before.

This is the first time we’ve done it live and added a symphony.

The original plan was to perform with Oshio, but I figured getting it heard by the fans live was the priority.

This is why this song is included in the concert.

There is a new introduction in this title  ‘Tasogare’.

I think it will make quite an impression on the spectators.

.

Q: Why is the concert called [“INTO THE LIGHT” THE SYMPHONY]?
(…)

A: I wanted to incorporate the essence of light in hopes of brightening fans’ hearts, showing them how we shine and how we can all shine during the time we share together at the concert.

This was my thought and what I wanted to convey through this title.

.

Q: What are your goals for this year?

(…)

A: I promised I would…

That I will deliver five surprising messages to my fans in 2024.

The first was the “Into the Light” concert

I’m doing my best while working on the rest of the promises.

(…)

I’ll be back with more good news, with more acting.

After this show…

I don’t know how, but we’re going to record the whole show for the fans who couldn’t make it.

So they can see it.  I’ll have to think more about how to get it for you.

I want this to be a gift for the fans to start this new year.

.

Q: Any words for the fans who will be attending the [“INTO THE LIGHT” THE SYMPHONY] concert?

(…)

A: We spent a lot of time preparing for this concert.

The Gemini band members and  stage crew all do their best.

I hope you can come and have a good time with us.

As always, I’m confident this will be a show you won’t regret

So stay tuned!
