04.2021A new generation Jeong-gil, who has a sweet voice and solid skills, continues the lineage of authentic balladers.
.
Singer Jeong-gil held an interview to commemorate the release of his debut single’Don’t call after 12:00′ at a cafe located in Gwanak-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 7th.
.
Jung Gil’s debut song’Don’t Call Over 12:00′ is an emotional ballad from JYMON and Aven’s UCUK mark. It is an impressive song with realistic lyrics and sad melody delivered to a broken-up lover. ‘Don’t call past 12 o’clock’, which shows off Jung Gil’s solid skills and appealing voice, who is not like a rookie, arouses public sympathy.
.
Q. How do you feel about making your debut as a solo singer?
Jung-Gil: I’m so happy I can’t believe it’s the position I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid. Originally, I came out as a solo while preparing for a group, but I feel a lot more weight as I have to handle everything by myself. But I am grateful even for its weight.
Q. Please introduce your debut song’Don’t call beyond 12 o’clock’.
Jung-Gil: When a lover broke up late at night and called after thinking of it, the lyrics convey the other’s words, such as’I have a new man’ and’Let’s organize it because a new person may misunderstand’. If you’ve been in a relationship or have parted, I think you can deeply sympathize with it.
Q. How did you feel when you first listened to your debut song?
Jung-Gil: When I first listened to the guide song, there was a chorus in the intro, so I said,’It’s good, but can I sing it alone?’ Wanted. After that, they changed the song to suit me, and thanks to that, it became perfect. In particular, in the case of lyrics, I thought it was a song the other person was talking about in the first person, but when I released it, it wasn’t. It was good that I could listen to it by changing the viewpoint.
Q. You debuted with a traditional ballad, a genre that is rare these days. Do you usually like ballad genre?
Jung Gil: When I was studying vocals, I studied a lot mainly for hip-hop R&B. Originally, I wanted to do songs in genres like singer Crush and George, but the company distinguished between what I could do well and what I liked. I also liked ballads very much, so I accepted the company’s opinion.
Q. Are you planning to mainly show authentic ballads in the future? I’m also curious about the hip-hop R&B that Jung Gil calls.
Jung Gil: My official music color is going to be an authentic ballad, but you can see other features on YouTube (laughs).
Q. There is a preconceived notion that a ballad singer seems to be calm and quiet for some reason. How is Jung Gil’s real personality?
Jung-Gil: Usually, I’m calm, but there are a lot of funny friends, and when I meet my friends, I play a lot of jokes. And although it hasn’t been implemented yet, there are plans to show off dancing through TikTok. When asked to do anything, he does everything, and he is open to anything (laughs).
Q. I’m looking forward to being a ballad singer’s dance. Did you learn to dance separately?
Jung-Gil: I didn’t learn to dance separately. When I was young, I was a fan of HOT and Shinhwa. I followed the choreography tremendously. It seems that it makes the body move now (laughs).
Q. I heard that you have a special relationship with your agency’s senior, Kim Hyun-joong.
Jung Gil: I was teaching military service at the 34th Division Recruitment Education College. At that time, my brother entered as a trainer and a kite reached. There was a term between the two for a little over a year, so they actually lived together for 8 to 9 months. On the 5th week of the trainee, there was something like a party before I was assigned to the troops, and at that time my brother saw me singing. I think you have looked at me since then.
Q. Was Kim Hyun-joong’s suggestion to join the same agency?Jung-Gil: After making a relationship in the military, I have maintained a close friendship in private. After that, there was a difficult work for me, so I contacted my brother, saying, “I really want to succeed as a producer, but I don’t know how to do it.” I sent a message asking if you could tell me how, but my brother said, “I’ll see you tomorrow.” After meeting and listening to all my stories, he said, “You take care of my album.” At that time, I immediately became loyal to my brother.
At the time, I had never made a major debut, and there was no profile to show. But isn’t Hyun Joong hyung so great that he is called’Asia Prince’? No matter how close you are, your work is always work, but it was a miracle that your brother told you to take over the future work. I wonder if I could have done that if I had been in my brother’s position.
Q. There seems to be a big difference between working as a producer and working as a singer.
Jung-Gil: The difference is enormous. It looks like an outgoing personality, but in fact it’s close to an introverted personality. As a result, camera dysfunction is severe, and it feels difficult to deal with an unspecified person. In addition, there were a lot of things to pay attention to, such as the appearance part and gaze treatment. I thought that celebrities were great.
Q. As you have a special relationship, it seems that Kim Hyun-joong gave a lot of encouragement and support.
Jung-Gil: Thank you so much for caring. Although I am recording the songs that will be included in the cover video, not the album, I listened to them and monitored them and directed them. I’m also active as a singer, so I’m sure there’s a lot to worry about, but he paid attention to all the details. It’s a style that says’do it yourself’ in the front, and pays attention and cares about it in the back.
Q. Even though you made your debut, it seems that it is very regrettable that it is difficult to be active due to Corona 19.
Jung-Gil: Don’t you say it’s an opportunity in crisis Even in the midst of difficulties, I think there is a format in which I can work hard if I find it hard. I can’t do a face-to-face performance as comfortably as before, but I am focusing on online activities such as YouTube and SNS. I will do my best as I can. There is no regret or impatience.
Q. What is Jung Gil’s long-term goal as a singer?
Jung Gil: I had the experience of doing a live chorus of Patty Kim’s national tour concert. At the time, watching Patty-Kim from behind and seeing him standing upright and digesting dozens of live songs even though he is over seventy years old, he said,’Can I become such a singer?’ I wanted to, I wanted to be. Our goal is to become a singer who can sing even when we are old and that can present empathy even then.
Q. What would you like to see come true in 2021?
Jung-Gil: There are now a little over 1,000 subscribers to YouTube, and I hope that there will be 10,000 within this year. Since I aim for that, I think I’m going to be aggressive with the content. We are trying to create stable content that can communicate in the long term. What is currently being planned is a celebratory event. I also wanted to do music to congratulate and congratulate someone, and these days, the stage is so rare that I rarely hear a song face-to-face. The meaning is good and I am looking forward to seeing that the experience of singing songs in the past can be saved.
Q. One last word?
Jung Gil: Due to the nature of our company, there are a lot of overseas fans, so many comments from overseas fans are posted on my SNS. I want to post all the comments one by one, but it is difficult because there are too many different languages used. Translation also has limitations. It is regrettable that I can’t communicate well with the fans because of the language barrier. However, I am studying English and Spanish very hard, so I hope that someday I will be able to communicate easily.
Meanwhile, Jung Gil’s debut single’Don’t Call After 12:00′ is available on various online music sites.
